Livin'in Taiwan - Day 13

Today is another rainy morning... the weather has started to change recently..

After the quick-breakfast in the hotel, we walked to LONG SHAN Temple for a "sembayang", hoping the weather will be fine today so we can go to the next destination.

This is indeed an ancient temple of Taipei...(about 200 years?) Many religious functions held here. What i found interesting here, is i get to buy many charms for friends and family.

After the visit at the temple, we moved on to take a 40min transit to MAo Kong to ride gondola. (the whole street is awakening where peoples are walking in fast pace to work)

Mao Kong Gondola and its station.
A bit disappointing, there is nothing much to explore here. This is a place where people tanam tea....... and we were being conned by a not-so-tasty restaurant for an expensive lunch.. haih~

A flower taken up there...

next we decided to shop at Taipei most-concerntrated spot.

This shopping areas gave me a very positive feelings.
The rains has actually stopped. and it is safe to walk around within the shopping complexes. (without cars, or other vehicles.)

Some other views of this shopping area.

Not to forget, this place has 3 -4 Clubs and other pubs... At night, it is a hot spot to see happening guys and girls. ( I've seen two lamborgini around this place at the same night too~)

Suddenly, i thought i saw Choo Bey Ni ....:P (of course it is not her! hahaha!) But i quickly snapped her to record this down.. KAKA! (p.s Bey Ni is my uni friend)

Familiar of this place? yes it is Xi Men Ding again...... xi men ding is really a place that you shouldn't miss out because...day and night, it is crowded!

See? I had a hair-cut in Xi Men ding. The saloon is called 乱剪.

Sigining off~

Livin'in Taiwan - Day 12

Today first thought of going to ride Gondola in MAO Kong... but it is stupid that we didn't carefully awared that Gondola will not be in service on every Mon.

At the end, we decided to visit "Zheung Ghai Sek Memorial"

This is the National Theather of Taiwan. Very different compared to the one we have in Malaysia. (by design-wise~ haha!)

Ohya..the weather is not well. It rained. So it has a different looks than those you can search via Google ya.

Outside view / Inside view~ of the Memorial
The area is big that you probably need to spend 2 - 3minutes walking fast under the rain to enter.. Ha!

Don't believe? see it and measure it yourself ya~ ;)

Some of the closer shot of the memorials exhibited statues and pictures.

Looks like real? and his car is bullet-proof!

After a quick glance at the memorials, we proceed to Yang Ming Shan again. Aimed to visit other places that I have missed on my last trip.

This is the Stations called BEI TOU. I were thinking to snap it for quite a long time...finally i get the chance ha! nice?

Not kidding but it is actually raining in Yang Ming Shan too! (perhaps the whole taipei)

we decided to take a good time (lunch) in here. So we visited this corner, western restaurant for a try.

The black shirt guy is the cook + owner of this restaurant ya!
You can see the yellow Rain-coats are belongs to ours. haha!

Not joking but i do think it can compete with 5-star hotel's quality! (we bet he is "graduated" from Europe!)

Don't believe? haha... it really taste very very good! you must try it if you are coming here too!

It was hard to catch a bus at the rainy day. we took some times to reach this place.

It is some kind of farm that produce fresh veges.

Due to the rain, the temperature dropped drastically. And it gave us fresh airs and nice scenery too!

A little bit of windy had added more Cooling ambiences here!

After a while we came down and visited this primary school. I personally recalled the time when i first went out from home to participate in a BrassBand camping in cameron high school.
The feelings were exactly felt the same. :)

Aha....after the sunset, we decided to visit SHI LIN night market... Many people had said shi lin is not the finest night market in Taiwan... it were because it became famous by tourism definition.
In fact, i find it true....compare to many other places. shi lin is not bad...but it wasn't that good too!

To some extents, i rather likes Malaysia's Night Market!

Not being surprised, you will be seeing a lot of people promoting their shops / products by yelling, holding board, all sorts of ways to gain your attention! In this way i think it can be somehow effective by simply acting out to catch your eyes ball~

This is how a normal stores that sells many things... perhaps it can triggers girls to go inside to slowly check out what do they sell by being messy... haha!

Not bad huh? hehe!

Tml...will be shopping day...
Sigining off~

Livin'in Taiwan - Day 11

Today was a great day. I'd visited quite a lot of interesting places around Taipei.

First in the morning, we (together with my friends) walked from the hotel to XI MEN DING!

So, what is Xi Men Ding? it is a street that is famous of youngsters hanging out around; where you can find many restaurants, shops, cineplex, etc...

It is famous that people are very stylish here. #_^

scroll down to see---->

How do you think? haha~

(actually there are more, but i am saving it for later post :P)

A group of street dancers that are in competition. (while back there, it is a Sony Street Campaign to promote newly launched walkman mp4)

EiEi!!!! Who is this? WAhahaha... yeah you are right she is Krystal!

(not superstar ya..she is my ex-colleague in astro :P)

Guess What? I actually went to visit the place where this Jay Chou Movie - Secret are shot!

It was Sunday and the school is prohibited for public entry.

However, we managed to pretend numb and gang gang enter to take some shots :P

This is where I heard the famous "door bell" alarm that notify students of changing period. What a back-to-school experience! (we went to Dan Shui!)

How How? Does the pictures recall any memories to those who watched it numerous time?

For person like Rames and Jason, probably you will like this town too~ :P

walking down from this staircase, we headed to the port to watch sunset in Dan Shui.

WOW...many peoples are actually sitting down the fence, many of them holding canggih camera and shooting!

haha, i also shot a few ...and it is my first time taking sunset picture here... please don't scold if it looks ugly ^_^.

Sunset with an plane... I was wondering what kind of view that the passenger can see? by having that close to the Sun? (amazed...)

After the sunset, we took a boat and headed to the famous DAN SHUI MA TOU (Dan Shui Harbour) for Dinner and a walk.. :D

See, this is their so-called QING REN QIAO (Couple's Bridge). Does it looked like Putrajaya bridge? haha~

Okay...this is the place where we had our dinner. It is called "HAVANA" ...
Having a wonderful name and restaurant's interior.. the service quality is barely satisfying. What a pity..

Food? Ma Ma Dei *(means okay okay only~)

A shot from the Harbour to oppposite Land. A night Scenery that i tried to take. It was a peaceful, windy night over there.

Many couples are really happily spending their time here. In fact i think it really has that love atmosphere spreading around the place.

And Me? This is me~
Day 11 ended with good emotions with a small taste of Heineken.. ;)

I hope you like day 11 too~ :)

Signing off.....

Livin'in Taiwan - Day 10

Haha, This is going to be one of the shortest post ever... because in order for me to travel back from that small village - Fu Li in Hua lian, it took my 2/3 of my day sitting inside a train.

I only reached Taipei at night time. And i sempat to catch up with two Malaysian friends who came in this right moment so we can spend some days traveling together. (which also explains why i had disappeared for some days)

We decided to visit Taipei 101! The world tallest building that took KL TWIN TOWER pride :P (FINALLY!!)

TADA!!!

Finally the TOWER is arrised!!!

Does it looked impressive? Not so compared to KL Twin Tower right?
It don't have too much angle that you can shoot for this building compared to Twin Tower where you can find many ways of catching it~

Hu HU.....when i am walking inside....i saw an impressive shop design!!!

YES.... it is new LV bag design....all spot-lights are on It!! like a new limelight / born baby!

Then we decided to move up to head to the observation deck. in the middle... we took some more pictures.

Left: Top floor lounge with Hagen-daz and mini-grand piano.
Right: SEE! we found Kuala Lumpur!!! (and people get to know we are from Malaysia when we take this snap! KEKe)

Left: Another view of the entrance area before we take the so-called fastest lift in the world.

Right: when we are climbing up to the floor 89... it only takes less than 40 sec!! omg...(from 5th floor to 89th floor) // (you will feel a bit uncomfortable inside the lift when it shoot up)

TADA!!! A taipei farmost nicest view from the top of taipei 101~

Left: another shot to a broader angle .... the south view of taipei city

Right: A snap on how ppl are busy walking around (quietly) to hunt for nice scenery

How about this? does it looked like ALien Space SHIP when it posted up-side-down? keke!

There are more things inside the observation deck.

Left: the laser projector that forms special effect on the pathway that you are walking!

Right: not the girl! but the heavy ball that is meant to balance the whole building when there is earthquake...

And this is a good effect that is only formed with a ring of lights + 2 mirors.....that makes you feel like you are inside a spaceship tunnel~ :P

Sigining off..

Taipei City.

Livin'in Taiwan - Day 9

P/S: sorry for not keep to date again ya. :P These few days I were traveling around with two friends that i met here (from malaysia). That's why i couldn't spare some times up everyday to update this blog:)

Hua Lian, It is really hard for me to travel without a car / a vechile on my hand. At the end i followed a plan that was arrranged by a friend that i met in Hua Lian. To go to FU LI, basically a hill that is tradisionally made out from farming.

So, in returns of the kindness where my friends actually picked me up from my stay to breakfast and railway to catch the train, i treated both of them for a cheap breakfast (RM10 for three~)

After a 2 hours train journey + 45min car journey, i am here.

So this is the map that describe the whole place.

and, i came here to watch this flower, please see below:

This is called "JIN ZHEN". This flower has a very short cycle of flowering.

It only grow in end of July to Early September. and the flower will only opens for one day, and it will dead in the next day.

So there are many locals who purposely came to catch this precious season. (every year!)

Actually this flower is a vege. It can be serve as food. you can see there are still some farmers are processing the Jing Zhen for business.

Thus has form a scenery of people working in line.

Left: When i were walking, i suddenly here a big sound from somewhere nearby. when i had moved closer, omg it is a "Katak di Bawah Perigi" !! KEKE

Top: what a view.

Left: A trial shot to bring up the landscape with the Sun Ray..

Top: Does the followers looked energetic?

When i were walking in a route, suddenly i hear "EEEE ....EEEE...EEEE" ...i thought Mana ada so big punya Mosquito? at the end it is this "BIG BEE" working hard in the picture~ :D

This really gave me a japanese Village kind of feelings. you can see the wind is blowing hard here.

Left: Two kids are playing bubble...i hoped i can play it too~

Top: Two locals who had finished their daily routine, taking a rest and chit-chatting

Guess what? i realized Taiwanese love to have pets...and almost all pets are dogs... that are pure breed.

They sayang them like it is their real kids ... so good!~

(in fact, not only in FU Li, it is everywhere that i noticed taiwanese are carrying their "babies" (dogs/puppies) in their pet-bag, even in MRT. :P)
Yes, i am alone here where every other tourist come in group.
But it is also because i came alone, the owner of the farm actually invited me to have free dinner with him and his crew inside the restricted area.
I felt very warm by having the treat from them :D
Perhaps, i am the first Malaysian who had visited this Heavenly-made place that means a lot to them.
Tomorrow, i am going back to Taipei. Then, you are expecting all CITY View and Night Markets POST!!!
Sigining off....

Livin'in Taiwan - Day 8

Remember the expensive hotel? i woke up this morning in order i can makan banyak banyak at breakfast (inclusive). But there is only porriage and bread!

duno why they set up a fish-spa next to the breakfast lounge. (i checked out, it is just kissing fish that is massly produced in China. Tipu one~ =_='')

So, at 10.50am this morning, i took this train (deem to be the fastest available) to Hua Lian.

It took my 2.15 hours to reach there.

when i reach there, i stood hopeless for the first time. (not joking k?)

WHY? look at this map below, i explain to you.

Hua Lian is the largest province in Taiwan! from the north to the south can cost you 240KM.

It is not some place that i can travel by my "11 bus" or there is any efficient public transport at all!

why? because East Taiwan is low in population and density. Public transport don't bother to develop becasue the overhead cost is too high.

Imagine it is like in Langkawi, if you don't rent a car or a moving vehicle, you go no where. seriously!

All nice spot are all tabulating in different places which has at least 25km in distance to each other...... omg....

as a result of this, i stood inside the tourism centre and a TAxi uncle approached me. I had a detailed Q&A session with him to find out how can i make my trip here, in this Hua Lian.

At the end, since i had came here, i decided to stay inside Hua Lian City for a night first. Then, the uncle fetched me to the famous sea spot. (i decided to spend my day here.)

Okay, this is Hua Lian - QI XING TAN.

It is famous of many wonderful sea-view.. i will show u one by one. :)

This gave me a "Beach Boy" feels..

Left: nice thick cloud with sunset effect. Saw the uncle who is holding the camera?

Top: haha, they are shooting wedding pictures.. (i tell you it was hot like hell there...and they are trying to squeeze their smiles. haih..)

OMG what a lo000000000000000ng pathway!!! guess what? i am not walking la... i rented a bicycle. This is bicycle pathway... not bound for walking purpose one. :P

A shot taken from the beach to the top. not much of tall building in Hua lian... as it is not largely developed by scope. All are single entity.

Some plants shot which grow next to the beach.

Sea + Sky view from different spot

after 15Km that i had cycled. i reach to a spot where i suddenly see alot of strong wave.. when i look down...wow! people are doing surfing leh!!!

Taken from the Harbour. Many people do evening exercises here.. and so happen I met another two American who is doing religious service again.

They are very happy to talk to me.. first in chinese, then we have a good chat in his language after he asked me whether i speak english.

Meeting friendly mates here, do help a bit of cheering up my mood. (cause i relly duno where to go after i settle this spot, Hua Lian is not easy to play with.....)

HAha, Again i am helping Ms Joyce to spy on her oversea counterpart factory, want to put a boom inside it? :P

This is my dinner for tonight.. it is the cheapest japanese food i had ever ate. Maybe it is Hua Lian not Tai Pei? haha~

So, nothing fancy abuot today unless if you really love the beach view that i had snapped. It was very hot and i forgot to apply sunblock... (you gonna see me tainted when i am back :P)

Suddenly feel like talking to Chee wai... why you didn't tell me it is very difficult to travel in Hua lian! Hai....and it needs a lot of coverage to ride bicycle in this city.

(i caught lost just now, and a police who was patrolling helped me to find the way, and said i am "Li Hai" after i revealed that i am not local.)

I've deciced now.. tomorrow will go to a place with flowers, then will go back to Tai Pei in Saturday. The transportation cost here is killing me..

Sigining off,
Hua Lian City, 10.21pm

Livin'in Taiwan - Day 7

I set my alarm at 3am, and slept at 9pm (the tour depart at 3.45am). Ironically, i over-slept!

I had switched off my hp alarm sub-conciously and went back to sleep~ luckily the receptionist called my intercom to wake me up! (my god, it was 3.45am when he called me!)

I quickly changed and rush out, and saw all people are sitting quietly inside the tour van waiting for me. So paiseh haha!

The first spot stopped in a hill side. When i reach there, many peoples are gathering there (in 3.55am!) and looking up to the sky...

So, I also looked up....OMG!! There are millions of stars on top of my head! then i turned my head +body 360' degree like a sial man, to see this wonderful view~ (many people were indeed reacting the same way ya~ :P)
at that 20 minutes time, I couldn't read any faces there (it is too dark and people don't bother to look straight but to look up), i managed to see 2 shooting-star. Not bad~

but too bad, i had tried to take some pictures... but i think i had failed to capture any cause my camera skills is very bad.

So, I only show photo begining from the sunrise hehe! (the above is a before-sunrise-shot)

Okay... the sun is coming out! slowly lights up the sky~

HOHO! this is it! (today sunrise taken in YU SHAN, marked at 2745m - a bit higher than yesterday)

This really good because the light came with heats that warmed me up. (i think it was 11' degree up there, freaking cold!)

The sun light is very powerful at its first rise! you can see the two girls (came together with me) were holding the special glasses to watch it.

After taking the sunrise, we moved on and reached a place where this two big tree is situated.

They called it "Husband and Wife". In those days before it got striked so many times by thunder, they were sticked un-separately together for >1000 years.

All left is memories and imagination. (it is really amazed cause they are the only two big tree that grew next to the road side facing the alishan mountain)

Okay this is my first time using LARGE image. Cause i really love this scene of Alishan, taken in Yu Shan. I hope you like it~

Duno why it reminds me of Final Fantasy!

This is another shot snapping on other mountains with their layer of clouds surrounding them.
The morning wind blowing strongly in this place. The air is very cold.

Let's look at other pictures that i took during the tour in different spots :)

Some plants that i think wouldn't be found in M'sia because of its weather? (not sure~ but it is nice!)

I went to see the 2nd biggest tree in Taiwan too. It was aged at 2670 years old. (look at the trunk!)
The largest one is in Xue BA, need 5 hours walking distance to reach there, plus another 5 hours to come back. sial~

Good Bye Alishan (and thank god i were able to make it here for once in my life time)

Not much story after that, but i did a mistake and caught a wrong train back to TAi Pei.

Haiyo..at the end i am late for 1.30 hour to reach Taipei. When i reach there, with a Not-feeling-good 6th sense, i quickly ran to check out some hotels for a room to stay.

Haih... all fully occupied. At the end i got one like this:

Like it? pay me RM185 ya~ HAHA!

Tomorrow, i am going to Hua Lian. A place that every people (friends, net friends, forum) said it is nice. Let's find out tomorrow.

Sigining off...

Livin'in Taiwan - Day 6

@_@..... it is the time i should wake up to catch up the early train to the sunrise spot.

once i woke up, immediately i took a camera to note the time - 4AM!!!!

When i reached the station, suprisingly there are many peoples are in the que! it is funny because everyone is shouting "COLD COLD!!" coz it is 13 degree now.:-

A testing shot, trial and error shot while waiting the sun rise.

Since i am waiting, might as well listen properly to this shouting uncle who is trying to explain the history and his precious story~

TADA!!! waited until my fingers all do not belongs to me....T_T (was freaking cold without wearing a pair of glove..my dear)

Hehe, i stepped in the rail road..and took myself with the very first shine of the sunlight!
(gonna run fast because the train will knock me down soon - see above!)

Then, i chosen not to take train to go back. In fact, i chosen a path which is to - WALK! (the journey had cost me 3.5 hour.... (i had prepared my bread for breakfast with enough water :)

look at the above...I am walking inside this jungle, breathing hard to feel the naturally perserved beauty. I am landing my every steps carefully, listening to the awakening forest.

The natures... hiding inside thousands trees, quietly welcoming every passer-by.

Overtimes, you can seek out from the forest and get to see the opposite moutain and sky. with the cold temperature, it really makes you feel good.

I Stood on the brigde and look at the water that came down from the hill to the bottom. It teaches me how a world is operating, with you or without you. :P

There are a lots of stairs inside, this is one of them.. and the above...it belongs to a Buddism temple build on top of the moutain. the meaning is, turn back and you shall see a pathway leading you back home. (any other interpretation?)

That's not the end of Alishan, because i have booked a tour to watch alishan in a different places! (tml morning i have to wake up at 3am ...my god!)

Overall, today has been very meaningful to me. I finally feel i am recharged from those hardships that i had encountered recently. and now i can really put a smile on my face ^_^

sigining off,

Taipei, 11.33pm

Livin'in Taiwan - Day 5

Ladies and Gentlemens,

Let me warn you, you are going to fall in love with this place! (quoted in day 7, speaking on-behalf of day 4 :P)

okay...back to story first...:P

I have a good rest in Kao Shiong after finish watching Bejing 2008 closing ceremony, l0oked at itu Beckham - simple kick on the ball......that also kicked me to sleep~ :P

then, in the morning, i took the early train to Jia Yi, the town that departs to Ali Shan.

then....there is a lady came to tell me the train has stopped for a few days..asked me whether i wanna ride on her Van to go up. (at first in Day 4 i very scare i kena tipu....but....haha..let's keep the feelings that i may kena tipu first)

of course, i dun have much choices. the train is reallly closed down..so i took her offer. :)

The journey was lasted around 1.45 hour. only that i got to know, ali shan is very HIGH in height! OMG..... :P

you know, i felt hard to tell you how much my heart has been lightening. The higher and higher it goes, where the air is getting co0ler and cooler; my excitement swelled. :P

apparently when i see the above scene at my first step in alishan ground, i started to realise i am very happy...( is that a symtom of GAO SHAN desease? lol~)

I am at 2170m height in the mountain where the accomdation areas belongs to! Even it is summer, the weather kept at 19 degree~ yes, YES!!

Why? because i finally need my JACKET!! I were complaning to myself why i brought it, why, and why~ (so heavy and space-consuming!)

After i checked in to my hotel, i went to the tourist station to take a good look on what is Ali Shan that i duno from the GAO SHAN QING (famous ali shan gu niang's song)

I watched a good 20 minutes clip about how alishan is being discovered and developed on limber basis, and how it eventually evolved to a tourist spot.

Interesting!

Aha, this one is dedicated to our good buddy - Ms Joyce Lim Yue Yun (yes it is you~).

Before i can buy 1 of your company product from taiwan, let you see see the pictures first! :P

(taken in the restaurant that i ate my first dinner)

Oh ya, the highest starbuck in Asia Pacific that they had claimed, is very tempting to me. (somemore i couldn't locate any internet-equiped pc there...so i consumed for the very first time)

I think StarBuck gonna love my shot right? can it exchange with some small travel fares so i can stay better here? :P

So this covers for day 5, and i couldn't be more expecting to wake up earlier to ride on the train and head up to 2451m to watch SunRise in Alishan. What a view that could be?
(at the end i couldn't sleep as i planned to sleep at 9pm...dragged until 12am...haih..)

Signing off...

Livin'in Taiwan - Day 4

P/S: SORRY SORRY!! I have been missing-in-action from blogging for 3 days and now i am going to re-post one by one.... :P

Ah-ahem.First of all, mark my words here:

Do Not ride over-night train in Taiwan!! (you thought u can sleep? no! at the end i didn't sleep for the whole night in the train until i reach Kao Shiong!)

Okay....well this is Kao Shiong scene taken from Xi Zi WAN, overall is a very hot place that i'd experienced....Sunshine = Fire on your skin

I think, my main purpose to Kao Shiong is to do my Prilgrimage -- TADA!!

FO GUANG SHAN^^
(to Jason Goh: Nice or not!?)
Here are some pictures that i had snapped:

Top: Buddha side-view (temperature is high here! burning~~)
Down: Staircase to the Top (when i am climbing this stairs, i got a feeling i am like "GIM XING" in FENG YUN - Foong Wan (the old hero who didn't make it, stood and died one~)

Top: Cang Bao palace - nice view at outside~
Down:
Orchird? I saw many butterflies dancing with it, so i went near and snapped 1~

After went to Fo Guang Shan, (travelled around 2 hour) this is the place that i went to.
they called it the famous " Xi Zi Wan" in Kao Shiong, took free bus to reach one.
this picture is also showing the entrance to their famous university in kao shiong, called "Zhong Shan" university.

Stairway to the top. (well, this really trigger me of Tibet. Don't you think so?)

Left: The Beating-dog British council (they called it this way one r~~:P)
Top: The under-ground prison, the girl so happy to take picture..(inside is very doomed and hot)

After this hot+Sleepy (because i didn't sleep at the train), I think i should go to somewhere cooler, so i took MRT (new in Kao Shiong) to reach the "Dream Square" giant shopping complex in Kao Shiong.

Top: Outside view, the hot sun + the tree, i thought i am in middle east ~ =_=""
Down: Inside...hmm...i should post more to let u see, but i think it has standard. (add next time)

So....Wondering is it i don't eat? why there is no Food / Beverage photo??? haha, in fact i were jimat-cermat because i wanna save more for later use...

Only in Kao Shiong, after i found a cheap room (around 65 per night), i decided to spare some out for a decent meal (actually is just better...cost 10 like tat only)

Top: The ABC there (look nice?)
Down: Tepanyakki, Dream square... (i think it taste really good than Tepanyakki in m'sia. Seriously)

Overall, i don't quite enjoy my stay in Kao Shiong. Perhaps i am really mentally exhausted and it is freaking hot there...i believe that day was recording at 35 / 36 C.

those locals that i spoke to, they all seems very proud of Kao Shiong. kept on asked me to stay for 2 more days to explore...but eventually, i bought the early ticket to ALI SHAN! :P

Sunset outside my room's windows... Good Bye Kao Shiong.

Sigining off...
